Bottom Line:

One of country music's most recognizable voices is being re-released for everyone to enjoy. Countrified was one of John Anderson's first albums and it can now be purchased on CD. It helped define just who John was in country music. He had no problem showing the world that although music may be changing, he would always be a traditionalist. After more than twenty years, everyone can now enjoy this album where they go.

When John Anderson was introduced to the world, it was obvious he would become a permanent fixture. Although he was not releasing albums that displayed the modern sounds of country music, it did not stop millions of fans from falling in love with his music. At a time when country music was pushing into unknown territories, John stood his ground by not changing at all. He proved that people still loved the twang and simple things in life. Although success is something everyone strives for, he would not change his sound for anything. Becoming one of the hottest selling artists was something that seemed to come natural. It was exciting to find out that some of his earlier albums were going to be released on CD. Whenever fans wanted to hear any of his earlier music, they would have to go find a greatest hits album. The problem with that is only the popular songs are on these collections. Well, by re-releasing all of these classic albums, fans can now own all of their favorite songs including some that may have been on the "B" side. The album cover is awesome as well. It shows a very young John, with his western jacket and black cowboy hat. He has barely changed since this picture was taken so many years ago. Anyone who is a fan of this legendary performer will be impressed.

The first track is also the title song "Countrified." This is one of the best songs John has ever tackled. Throughout the whole song he explains all of the finer things in life that bring him pleasure. However, by the end of the day, there is nothing he likes more than the simple things in life.

"What's So Different About You" is a nice little love song. Again, this is a simple tune, but very catchy. Most of the time when people are dating and they seriously start to look at what truly makes the relationship work, they find their other half is no different than their last relationship. In this tune, John sings about all that he is feeling, but he's unable to figure out exactly what are the things that makes it work, but it does.

A personal favorite is "If I Could Have It My Way." It is a slower tune about a love that perhaps is on the rocks. He is describing all the things he would do for her if he could.

"The Fightin' Side Of Me" was originally recorded by Merle Haggard, but John makes it his own classic. Listening to this album makes it obvious that every song he sings should be a No 1.

"You Can't Judge A Book (By The Cover)" is another fun tune. The title alone sums it all up.

The album's last tune is one of the most famous gospel songs ever recorded. To hear John Anderson sing "Peace In The Valley" is like hearing Hank sing "I Saw The Light." There is nothing like it!

If you're a John Anderson fan, this album is a must for your collection.
