With a really solid blend of country and rock as well as their really smooth, tight harmonies, they are fast becoming a musical force to be reckoned with. If you're not familiar with the Eli Young Band, allow me to introduce you to one of the hottest country bands to come blasting out of Texas like a Category 5 Hurricane. Eli is Mike Eli, the bands lead vocalist. Sounding a little like Bobby Fuller and Marshall Crenshaw, he delivers powerful, emotional vocals. Young is James Young (Guitar, bassist Jon Johnes, and drummer Chris Thompson.The story of the Eli Young Band started several years ago at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. It's located 40 miles outside of Dallas.
Young, Jones and Thompson all arrived at the University of North Texas in 1998. Mike Eli enrolled in 1999 and became fast friends with James Young. Since the four of them hooked up, the guys have been working hard toward their musical goal sacrificing their day jobs and personal relationships along the way.
After their video for "When It Rains" was picked up by CMT and GAC, their fan base started growing and they packed the clubs and venues where they'd perform. Based on this popularity, country radio started adding the song to their play list. At the same time, the song started climbing the country music chart where it stayed for more than 30 weeks. And they didn't even have a major record deal yet.
Now with Universal Republic and Universal Records South backing the band, their single is on its way to becoming the longest running single in chart history.
Their first album entitled Level was released in 2004 on the independent Carnival label.

Jet Black And Jealous is 12 tracks of powerful country rock. The CD starts off with their first single "When It Rains.""Always the Love Songs" is a slow country rock ballad about being young and getting away with friends on a Friday night sitting around the bonfire and being close to the one you love.
"Radio Waves" is reaching out to the one you love in the hopes of saving the relationship through the song over the radio waves.
"Enough Is Enough" is another breakup song that takes stock of the relationship and comes to the conclusion that the relationship is over and it's time to call it quits.
"Throw And Go" is one of those songs that you want to crank up as you blast down the highway in the night. Just pack it up, hit the gas and be out of town before they know you're gone.
This album is one of the best country rock albums to come along in a long time! These guys have paid their dues in the bars and clubs. They aren't another pretty boy band that won a popularity contest on a TV Show. They are the real deal. Thanks to the Eli Young Band, it looks like there's still a lot of life left in country music after all.
