With this release, I honestly think old fans and new fans alike will enjoy this album from Chris Cagle. You can tell he really stepped up his game this time and believes in what he's singing. His previous releases have been nice, but there's something extra with this one and it is evident there's been more work put in this time around.
It was a wise decision having "What Kinda Gone" be the first song as it is the one fans have been hearing on the radio. There's a recognition factor to make people want to continue listening to the other tracks. When she left and said "I'm Gone," the man started contemplating what specific kind of goodbye it was by saying "Is it a whiskey night or just a couple beers?" He doesn't know if she's gone for good or if she's cooling off at her Mom's place.
The woman in the last song might have left, but in the next one "It's Good To Be Back" for the man who has returned to his old stompin' grounds. This rockin' sound and upbeat tempo is one of the things I like about Chris' music. He knows how to kick things up a notch and pump a lot of energy into his songs.
A similar theme is found in "Keep Me From Loving You." It's an ultimate love song where a guy proclaims that, no matter what, he will always love her. People and things can try to stand in their way, problems will arise, but he'll make sure things work out for the best because that's what he was born to do.
Back to the fun side of things is "Little Sundress," which is about a man who never expected to fall for someone whose name he barely even knew. But that's exactly what happened when he saw her dancing underneath the moonlight. With her head on his sunburned shoulders he feels that everything is right. To me, this song seems like something that would be released as a spring or summer single with its total party feel.
