The Life of a Song Bottom Line:

When I came across this record, it was definitely a pleasant surprise. I had heard of them from the show on CMT called "Can You Duet," but never really paid attention to the show. This duo simply goes by Joey + Rory and they will be a household name in the very near future. Their debut record The Life Of A Song is amazing from start to finish and is full of heartfelt songs that everyone can enjoy.

Who Are Joey + Rory

Although there are probably a lot of people out there who are asking themselves who Joey + Rory are, they would find the answer if they looked in their very own CD collection. Joey Martin and Rory Feek are a husband and wife duo that have been around Nashville for years. Rory is a very well known songwriter who has written tunes for just about everyone. He has had a hand in some of Music City's biggest hits including "Some Beach," by Blake Shelton, "You Can Let Go" by Crystal Shawanda, and Jimmy Wayne's current single "I Will." Rory has also hand a hand in writing songs for Kenny Chesney, Randy Travis, Terri Clark, Reba McEntire, Mark Wills, Waylon Jennings, Lorrie Morgan, Buck Owens, John Michael Montgomery, and even Charley Pride. His talent is endless and with the help of CMT, he and Joey are receiving the publicity they deserve.

Typically when you ask any country music star what their ultimate goal is, they say it is to play on the Grand Ole Opry. That dream finally came true for these two back in early October when they were able to make their debut on the stage at the Opry.

Shortly after they were on "Can You Duet," they were able to sign a contract with Sugar Hill Records, and their debut album is finally available. One thing that they focus on is creating quality music that everyone can enjoy. Their look is off the wall, which has helped them stick out in the eyes of the public. Rory always dresses in "overalls," and Joey has a natural beauty that is very hard to come by.

The Life of a Song - The Songs:

This album is full of music that brings together all walks of life. The first tune starts off with an awesome dobro sound and continues with sound throughout the track. The point that they are trying to get across is simply, who cares what genre of music a song is from, listen to the words. If the song is good, it is good.

There is one tune on this record that I am hoping will be their next single, and that is "Tonight Cowboy You're Mine." Everyone these days seem to get caught up in everyday life and tend to forget about the ones they love. The character in this song has no problem grabbing the bull by the horns and taking charge of her relationship. It is not a song about a woman being demanding to her husband and threatening him or anything. She truly loves him and is wanting to show him that.

"Cheater Cheater" is their first single off the record and the video is really getting a lot of play on CMT and GAC. The subject is pretty clear, but some of the things that Joey says throughout the song may catch you off guard. She makes it very clear what she is thinking about the situation and how she feels about her ex and his new affair.

"The Tune Of A Twenty Dollar Bill" is a great song that was written by Shawn Camp and Mark Sanders. This is the closest thing to a bluegrass tune on the whole record. It is about a new love and how over the course of a twenty dollar bill, a new relationship was created.

The last tune is also the title track, and it brings the whole album together. Many people never sit back and realize just how powerful a song is and that it will live forever. It will really make you think.
