The Rock Bottom Line:
Tracy Lawrence's new album The Rock is a gospel record that offers a spiritual journey of hope, inspiration, and uplifting messages that will brighten the day of anyone who is feeling down, having second thoughts about themselves, or even someone who feels that they have lost their way at some point or another. This record is so strong that is can be listened to over and over or simply at times when things are rough.About Tracy Lawrence
For the better part of two decades, Tracy Lawrence has been cranking out hit after hit that fans still request to hear. It seems that wherever he is playing a concert, folks drive for miles in order to spend an evening listening to his classic country sound. His music hits home for each listener. Every single word becomes the core root of what he stands for and it shows every time he takes the stage. One thing that has always helped Tracy Lawrence stand out among his peers is his traditional sounds and subjects. His signature song, "Alibis," captured the attention of everyone as Tracy told the story of a woman who he has consistently hurt throughout their whole relationship. This tune wasn't his only big hit. Others include "Sticks And Stones," "Can't Break It To My Heart," My Second Home," "If The Good Die Young," "Texas Tornado," "Time Marches On," and his most recent No. 1, "Find Out Who Your Friends Are," which was released on his brand new record label, Rocky Comfort Records. Going independent seems to be the way to go these days. The artists are able to record and release the music they want to, and this project is no different for Tracy.
The Rock The Songs:
The Rock features ten songs that cover a wide range of thoughts and emotions that we as people go through. The first track, "Dear Lord" has a gospel message with a country flare. The guitar, fiddle, and steel guitar all all come together perfectly; however, the fiddle really shines the brightest. Tracy's voice paints the listener a picture of a man who is simply explaining all of the things he is thankful for in his life. It is classic, yet modern, and would be appropriate for any setting. One track that really stands out is "The Book You Never Read." It is a slower ballad, with lyrics that will cut like a knife, while truly forcing you to put things into perspective. The title pretty well sums this song up, but there really is a lot more to it. The piano at the beginning resembles the music that plays every Sunday morning. Then as the piano is joined by some understated fiddle and guitar, the song continues with a slow tempo that helps display the meaning even more.
"Somebody Who Would Die For You" is an attention getter and a wake up call. Again, this is a tune with a slower arrangement of music and words that are perfectly laid out. This song has a lonely sound, with a haunting steel guitar that helps get the feeling through to your heart. It is easy to feel the pain with each note, while understanding just how important everyone in this world is.
Records like this are hard to come by and thankfully, Tracy Lawrence was not afraid to take on the challenge!
