Bottom Line:Jack Ingram returns in 2007 with his first studio release in five years on Big Machine Records. The CD is entitled This Is It. It's filled with solid country rockers that you'll just want to crank up and sing along with. With hits like "Love You," "Lips Of An Angel," "Wherever You Go" and "Measure Of A Man," this is a CD that you'll want to listen to over and over again. Highly recommended.
So, who is Jack Ingram? Well, here's a little about the man. Jack Ingram was born on November 15, 1970, in Houston, Texas. He first played seriously while studying psychology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. He sang the National Anthem to 12 million viewers at Game 1 of the 2006 NBA Finals, he has his own weekly radio show called "Jack's Tracks" on Dallas' "99.5 The Wolf," as well as on XM satellite radio's channel 12. In 2007, Jack will host his 4th annual Real American Music Festival outside San Antonio, Texas with guests The Randy Rogers Band, Charlie Robison & Kelly Willis, Chris Knight, and more. He's also performed at the prestigious Austin City Limits Music Festival every year since its inception in 2002. He's also toured as the opening act for Sheryl Crow. Oh yeah, we should mention that he also writes music as well. His latest release on Big Machine records is called This Is It. It's his first studio album in 5 years. And at the time of this writing, it has four singles to it's credit. They are "Measure Of A Man," "Lips Of An Angel," "Wherever You Are" and "Love You." He toured around the roadhouses and bars of Texas with his Beat Up Ford band. He landed a regular Tuesday night gig at a honky-tonk club called Adair's. The second of Jack's two independently released CD's was recorded live at this same club. He landed a recording contract with Universal Records' imprint Rising Tide records and worked with Steve Earle on his 1997 debut release for the label entitled Livin' Or Dyin'.
Jack then relocated to Sony's Lucky Dog imprint for the 1999 album
Hey You. His 2000 follow-up release was a Texas concert recorded with Charlie Robison and Bruce Robison. In 2006, Ingram released --
Wherever You Are, a live album he recorded at Gruene Hall, on Big Machine Records. The project included his first two new studio tracks. The album's first single,
"Wherever You Are," reached No. 1 at country radio. His 2007 release on Big Machine Records is packed with great country rockers as well as well crafted ballads. But even the ballads have a bit of an edge to them. But his true talent really shines through on his country rockers that would make John Mellencamp proud. The instrumentation and vocals are mixed together really well. Neither overpowers the other. This is a nice change from the country CD's I've heard that have the music buried under the vocals like a Karaoke track.
And another nice bonus is if you put the CD in your computer or laptop, you can watch the videos "Wherever You Are" and "Love You." If you like your country music with a bit of a southern rock flavor, this is a CD that you'll truly enjoy!
