Kellie Coffey - Walk On

Duet
Bottom Line:

Kellie Coffey's sophomore CD lets you look into her true range as a singer and a songwriter. From the first song to the last you are left wanting more. Kellie co-wrote eleven of the twelve songs on this album, and they are all truly unique. Every song sounded like it came straight from her heart, which made the album that much more enjoyable.

"Walk On" is the title track and was written by Kellie Coffey and Wayne Kirkpatrick, and is also the first song on Kellie's new album. It is strong ballad that really shows her voice off on a level that is unreal. It is a song that shows the struggle of someone who's other half just left them, and now she has to "Walk On." The next track is a fun song, that is almost like a follow up to "Walk On." It is a flowing song that states all the things she will do when she sees him, but then she lets him know it will happen "When Pigs Fly." Another great song is "Everything She Never Wanted," and it is simply about someone who enjoys all the things they at one point or another thought they would never want. I guess it proves that sometimes when you have spent your whole life not wanting something and then it shows up in your face, you may end up loving it. "Strong Enough To Cry" is a great tune about a woman who is with a man, where is is a typical "man's" man, so she tells him love is a two way street and asks him "Are You Strong Enough To Cry?"
This is one of the best albums that has came out this year. It shows strong vocals and was produced by Wayne Kirkpatrick, who also produced Little Big Town. Kellie showed her true writing potential on this album, and I was never bored for one verse of one song. Walk On was long over due from her first album, When You Lie Next To Me, which came out in 2002. This album is just another touch of talent from the Academy Of Country Music's 2003 Top New Female Vocalist. This album proves that the Academy Of Country Music was not wrong by giving her the award, and she proves that when she sings "I Would Die For That." Kellie sings this song as an outsider looking in. She covers so much of life, from birth to love, and brings into a reality of one's regrets for things they do, and also shows what someone take for granted another person "Would Die For That." She further sings "how I wonder if it is me, or just not meant to be." This is definitely a heartfelt tune that will have you thinking about life in general and choices that we make on a daily basis. "I Would Die For That" was penned by Trina Harmon, James Slater and Kellie Coffey.
