Tracy Lawrence - All Wrapped Up In Christmas

Rocky Comfort
All Wrapped Up in Christmas Bottom Line:

This is a very heartwarming holiday album. Tracy Lawrence makes you want to grab a cup of hot chocolate and get down to the preparations of decorating, baking and enjoying quality family time. It is a traditional album with a touch of contemporary thrown in. You will find that it fits nicely with any collection of Christmas music.

Tracy Lawrence has released a new Christmas album, All Wrapped Up in Christmas, on his very own Rocky Comfort Records label. This album has a great mix of both old favorites and brand new music that will soon become favorites. After having a chance to talk with Lawrence earlier this year, and personally witnessing the interaction he had with his two daughters while we were talking, it was no surprise to find two songs that they chose. He is a man who is family driven and I think that is part of that extra 'something' that shows up in his music and endears him to his fans.

Christmas music is somewhat hard to review, simply because it is generally the same basic songs sung by different people. They may be arranged slightly differently, but still the same songs. It is true; however, that the person singing can make or break the songs or the overall enjoyment level of the album you are listening to. Lawrence does a terrific job, keeping the arrangements very close to the traditional sound. That means it brings a certain level of comfort and nostalgia to the listener, bringing back the memories that you have associated with that song over the years. I also love the new music he chose to include.

There are ten tracks on the album. Seven tracks are some old favorites and three tracks are brand new music that you are sure to love immediately. The three new songs include one with a very traditional sound, one that is very much tongue in cheek and tells a very humorous story of family holiday experiences and the third falls in the middle.

"Something in the Air" is new, but it sounds like a traditional favorite. It is all about the general feeling of happiness and goodwill that you find at Christmastime, with the wish that it would continue year round. "Cold Beer" is a title that will definitely catch your attention. The song itself will make you smile as you listen to it. If you are from a larger family you will nod your head in agreement listening to some of the crazy things that happen when you all get together in one spot. If you are from a smaller family you will just laugh and shake your head thinking there is no possible way that any of these things can happen. It is a very fun song about just wanting to head to the local watering hole for a cold beer to escape the family fun. "All Wrapped Up in Christmas" is simply about the actual preparations for the season. Someone has to drag down the boxes, go through the lights, bake the goodies and do the Christmas cards.

"Here Comes Santa Claus" appears courtesy of Skylar Lawrence. It was her pick for the album, and little sister Keagan chose "Frosty the Snowman." Lawrence says that is the song she'll be singing around the house through Christmas and into the New Year.

The remaining songs are ones that will quickly bring the warm and fuzzy nostalgic feelings. I will admit he chose some of my favorites as well such as "Winter Wonderland" and "White Christmas."

This is an album that will soon be a favorite around your home while you are "All Wrapped Up In Christmas" and enjoying the season with your family and friends.
