Guide Review - Alabama - Christmas
It's hard to imagine that it's been twenty years since Alabama released their first Christmas album. Back in the early 80's, it seemed that everything that Alabama touched turned to gold. Such is the case with their 1985 Christmas album simply entitled, 'Alabama Christmas.' One of the reasons that this album is so great is that they didn't just record the same old tired Christmas standards. No, every one of these songs is uniquely theirs and has become a classic in its own right. This album sounds as fresh today as it did over twenty years ago.Just listen to "Santa Claus (I Still Believe in You)," when Randy sings, "there's still a kid in all of us who still believes your true." Or, "Homecoming Christmas," a song about going back home again for the holidays. Or, the bouncy lyrics of "Happy Holidays" As Randy Owens sings about all of the eye candy that makes the Christmas season so enjoyable.
This CD really captures the moments that make the Christmas/holiday season so special. So, as you fight to untangle the strings of lights that you so carefully packed away after last years Christmas, and as you try to figure out how the ornaments got broken sitting in a box all year, be sure to also get a big plate of Christmas cookies, a big glass of Egg Nog and put Alabama on the stereo as you trim the tree and make your own Christmas memories. You'll find that the holidays aren't complete unless you include Randy, Teddy, Jeff and Mark. Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone!
