Guide Review - Alabama - Livin', Lovin', Rockin', Rollin': The 25th Anniversary Collection

It was back on April 21st, 1980 when Alabama signed with RCA Records. Later that same year, they released their first single "Tennessee River." Now, a quarter of a century later, We look back at the history of Alabama through their 25th anniversary collection entitled Livin', Lovin', Rockin', Rollin'. It's Alabama's first 3-CD boxed set that compiles 51 tracks. Nearly 4 hours of really great, memorable music from Alabama.

So, here are the facts. You get 8 previously unreleased tracks. They include live performances, alternate versions and a rare 1973 acoustic demo from Randy Owen. You get 26 #1 hits by Alabama, plus several Top 10 singles, live performances and album tracks - specially selected for this collection. A 52-page booklet that includes a 3.300-word liner notes essay by Nashville journalist Robert K. Oermann. Also, behind-the-scenes track-by-track song annotations, a chronological timeline and rare photos. This box set celebrates the most successful band in the history of country music and commemorates their 25 years with RCA Records.

Some of the standouts on this collection are, "Pass It On Down," "Christmas In Dixie (Promo Single 1982)" and "Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler)," which has the truck sound effects at the beginning and end of the song as it appeared on the 'Roll On' album. Disc 3 closes with the song "The Fans." Their musical tribute to everyone who has supported them through the years. This is a great collection that every Alabama fan would love.
