Guide Review - George Canyon - One Good Friend
If you could be anyone in the world, "Who Would You Be" is the question posed in the first track. Guys sitting around the poker table take turns with their answers ranging anywhere from John Wayne to John Lennon. Once they get to George he decides he would be the world's greatest dad & a great husband to his wife because those are the most important things. Because of the fast tempo, "Workin' On Ten" would sound great on radio. The lady is such a "hot number" that she is knocking on perfection's door.
In "I'll Never Do Better Than You" the man says that other things in life can keep getting better but the love he has with his wife is so far beyond anything else that it will be impossible to find anyone better. "Hell Or High Water" is another uptempo song that I love. Controlling your desires is what the preacher wants the man to do when it comes to liking his angelic daughter.
Paul Brandt sings background vocals on "Letting Go," a song about a soldier's life and point of view from different places in his life. Title track, "One Good Friend," is about how all you need to make it through life's troubles is a special person, like a wife or husband, to share your feelings with.
