Brooks & Dunn - Greatest Hits II

Brooks & Dunn - Greatest Hits II

The Bottom Line

This is the second collection of hits from Country Music's reigning ACM and CMA Duo of the Year. This collection draws from their previous albums; "Borderline," "If You See Her," "Steers & Stripes," and "Red Dirt Road." Along with the hits, you'll find three brand new songs; "That's What It's All About," "Independent Trucker," and "It's Getting Better All The Time." A great addition to any country music collection.

Guide Review - Brooks & Dunn - The Greatest Hits Collection II

Brooks & Dunn's 'Greatest Hits Collection II' includes songs from three of their four most recent albums, plus one from an older album, "Borderline." It's interesting that no songs are included from the less-than-stellar album "Tightrope," even though the album did contain the Top 5 hit "You'll Always Be Loved By Me," which I think deserved to be included here.

What you will find here are twelve Top 5 or better songs, plus one that went to No. 6. The curious addition of "South of Santa Fe," which peaked at No. 41 on Billboard, and No. 34 on R&R is the exception. There are also three new songs. The first single "That's What It's All About" is already a hit, sitting at No. 7 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart this week, and rising. "It's Getting Better All The Time," (not to be confused with the Beatles hit) is a melancholy tune about the after effects of a breakup, and I do hope it will be released as a single, as Ronnie's heart-wrenching vocals are some of his best ever. The third song is "Independent Trucker," and is sure to do well especially with all the men and women who make their living on the road, as well as the families left behind.

While most fans will already have these hits, this a great collection of songs to have all on one disc. Plus, the three new songs are sure to be future hits in themselves. This is worth the purchase for anyone that likes Brooks & Dunn's music, whether a longtime fan or someone just discovering the duo.
