Guide Review - Jason Aldean - 'Jason Aldean'
The lead-off track from Jason Aldean's self-titled debut album is his first single "Hicktown" and it immediately sets a mood for the remaining album that features strong Tracy Lawrence meets Chris Cagle-like vocals wrapped around melodies and lyrics that hook the listener in.Fans of Blake Shelton will recognize "Asphalt Cowboy" as it was on Blake's sophomore album. I also remember the Big & Rich penned "Amarillo Sky" from the McBride And The Ride album of the same name. But as "noticeable" as those two good tracks are, songs like the John Rich penned ballad "Why" (his first Number One song) and Aldean's own "Even If I Wanted To" showcase the soft, ballad singin' side to Aldean, a side that most country singers need to have to be a well-rounded artist.
"You're The Love I Wanna Be In" reminds me of something that Lee Roy Parnell might have recorded, for it features a good country rock melody to it with some meaty slide guitar. Jason co-wrote this with John Rich and Vicky McGehee. Hit songwriters D. Vincent Williams, Jim Collins and Marc Beeson teamed up to write the future hit "I Believe In Ghosts."
With 11 strong tracks, Jason Aldean's self-titled debut album is one that is sure to become popular with country fans everywhere. If you're a fan of modern country music, do yourself a favor and check out this fine recording.
