Guide Review - Junior Brown - 'Greatest Hits'
Junior Brown is his own artist. He has a unique style that not too many artists could claim and he plays his guit-steel like nobody's business. Though he doesn't get much airplay, Junior has achieved some success with a decent amount of his songs and they are being released on this Greatest Hits album. All leadfoots need to keep an eye out for the "Highway Patrol" because "you can bet your boots" he'll come after you if he catches you doing the wrong thing.
An ex-flame appears much to Junior's surprise in "My Wife Thinks Your Dead." Though it is good seeing how she is doing now, he's moved on and doesn't want his wife to think anything sneaky is going on between them.
"Sugarfoot Rag" is an upbeat instrumental that would make anyone want to "cut a rug."
"Semi-Crazy," a duet with Red Simpson, isn't what you think at first glance of the song's title. Instead of lyrics leaning on the crazier side of life, it is about how much time the guys spend in their semi trucks.
The gal in "Venom Wearin' Denim" is always slithering around trying to get what she can out of the man before she moves on to put the bite onto some other man.
"Joe The Singing Janitor" asks that you make life easier for the people who make other's lives easier, while in the shuffle-like "Long Walk Back To San Antone" Junior sings about a woman getting rid of everything he owns.
In "Freedom Machine," Junior rocks it out a little bit with prominent background singers and a harder-edge to the music.
