Guide Review - Kevin Fowler - Liva at Billy Bob's Texas
Folks may not realize they've heard Kevin Fowler before, but if you've heard Mark Chesnutt sing "Beer, Bait & Ammo," or "The Lord Loves The Drinkin' Man," well, those are Kevin's. You can hear Kevin sing them himself on this disc, along with many more of his awesome honky-tonk tunes, including "Butterbean," "Speak of the Devil," "Tall Drink Of Water," "J.O.B," and so many others.Kevin's sharp, wholly country lyrics and snappy, toe-tapping melodies are highlighted by his strong tenor voice and enthusiastic approach to his performance, which almost makes you feel like you're right there with 'em. Fowler knows how to play to his Texas audience. Right from the get-go, this disc is almost like being there.
The Billy Bob's series of discs have proved to be an awesome way for those of us who can't get to Fort Worth to experience at least a little of that amazing, stalwart venue for real country, Texas country, and classic country. In addition to Kevin, they have folks like Merle Haggard, Pat Green, Roy Clark, Eddy Raven, Cooder Graw, and so many others. Heck, this disc has it all, just like the song says. "Beer, Bait & Ammo," yeah.
