Guide Review - Pat Green - 'Lucky Ones'
It was in the middle 1990s that Pat Green emerged onto the Texas music scene with his blend of Texas country. The songs made an immediate connection with young people around the state and suddenly Pat was a star who, by 2001, had released 6 CDs and sold over 200,000 in Texas and Oklahoma. Major labels took notice and Pat signed with New York Based Republic/Universal Records, instead of a Nashville label. After 2 CDs that push Pat further into the mainstream, the third release, Lucky Ones is set to make Pat a star worldwide.Over the course of 12 tracks, Pat sings about more mature subjects than on previous albums; as one would expect from a new father. Baby Doll leads off the record. Co-written with Rob Thomas, the song is a catchy track about a waitress. The title track is one of only 3 songs Pat didnt co-write. Written by Radney Foster, Lucky Ones is a heck of a love song. Dont Break My Heart Again is the first and its melody and lyric are memorable. College is instantly recognizable for it features the distinguishable guitar and vocals of Brad Paisley. Its a humorous duet about college life. Temporary Angel, co-written with Drew Womack, is a memorable love ballad that is sure to be a big hit. Its Time is a strong love song about a guy who proposes marriage.
The 12 songs on Lucky Ones are all well-rounded and the stuff of career defining albums. This one shouldnt be missed.
