Guide Review - Mark Chesnutt - Saving the Honky Tonk
Chesnutt is recognized as one of country music's real treasures. He has four platinum albums, five gold albums, 14 No. 1 singles and 23 Top 10 singles to his name. He was Billboard's Ten Most-played Radio Artists of the 90's and was recognized by the CMA as a Horizon Award Winner in 1993.Some say Mark Chesnutt gave honky-tonk music back its soul, and I have to agree.Mark kicked off his tour themed, "Savin' The Honky Tonk" with a bang this season. Mark's debut single written by Kevin Fowler with Mark in mind when he wrote it, "The Lord Loves A Drinkin' Man" was released in late June. There is not one bad song on this 15 track album. He has put together yet another outstanding combination of tunes that compliment each other. Another Kevin Fowler tune called "Beer, Bait and Ammo" that he has been performing live for several years is included on this album. Lee Ann Womack with her incredible voice sings harmony on the classic "Would These Arms Be In Your Way."
Mark helped write the very first song on this album "Somebody Save The Honky Tonks."I've always liked hearing Mark's honky-tonk voice and the songs he picks and puts out there for us to enjoy. You are always guaranteed with this artist some true country honky- tonk music. It puts me right in the mood to go to a honky-tonk for a long neck and some two-steppin' on some saw dusted floors. Chesnutt said he's never been more excited about a new album than he is about this one. "It's good, rowdy stuff."
