Guide Review - Deryl Dodd - Stronger Proof
Deryl Dodd is known for songs like "A Bitter End," "One Ride in Vegas," & "That's How I Got To Memphis," but due to some shuffling around record labels fans might not even know he released a strong collection of songs, 'Pearl Snaps,' in 2002. His new album 'Stronger Proof' will hopefully get more well-deserved attention as it is a very strong follow-up.In the first song, "Never Again" will the man be hurt by memories of his former girlfriend because she hurt him for the last time. The next tune finds the man wanting "Stronger Proof" to wash away some painful memories. Even though "it may be hard to swallow" he feels that a beer just won't do in helping him be able to face the truth.
Being "Outside Lookin' In" can be quite a lonely feeling as this slow song proves in the lyrics. Keeping your heart locked away is something that shouldn't be done because it can make people feel like they are only a friend & nothing more. Another slow song is "She Does The Best She Can," which is about a woman who makes it through rough times though she may not have much to work with. What better way to close off a Deryl Dodd album than with two crowd pleasing songs. A man is surprised that a woman wants to know what he is up to in "Let Me Be," because after all he figured she knew he was currently living where she told him to go. A tip of the hat to Deryl's fans is found in the Chris-Caglesque "The Crowd." He wants to thank everyone for letting him do his own thing with his music.
