Guide Review - Tracy Byrd - 'Greatest Hits'
I'm a fan of Tracy Byrd, & now with his newest Greatest Hits album I can have some of his earlier hits without having to go out & buy his older albums. The two new songs are nice additions to go along with the ten other hot tracks.Every time I hear "The Truth About Men" I can't help but think of Terri Clark's "Girls Lie Too" because both songs have topics that are pretty much the same. The only difference being that they are written from the opposite sex's perspective. The sensuous side of Tracy can be heard on the Latin-tinged "Just Let Me Be In Love." There's no future in partying for the guy in "Drinkin' Bone" because he knows how much his wife doesn't like him staying out all night.
This album's version of "Watermelon Crawl" sounds refreshing as it has been re-recorded, as has the beautiful "Keeper Of The Stars." The third & final song with a different sound is one of my all-time favorites - "I'm From The Country." It's too fun to sing along to "Everybody knows everybody, everybody calls you friend. You don't need an invitation - kick off your shoes & come on in!"
"Put Your Hand In Mine," another ballad finds Tracy tenderly singing lyrics like "Would you reach out to me just one more time?" New song "Johnny Cash" is about throwing caution to the wind & being a free spirit. Another uptempo tune closes out the album - "Revenge Of A Middle-Aged Woman" warns guys out there that if you cheat you might just get a taste of your own medicine.
