Guide Review - Vince Gill - Breath of Heaven

Some people can sing Christmas songs and they sound ho-hum. Then there are people like Vince Gill who could sing the phone book and make it sound wonderful.

This beautiful collection of Christmas favorites are done in a smooth orchestrated style which shows off Vince's awesome tenor perfectly. This is a collection of songs that people young and old will enjoy. All but the title cut, and the newer tune "Cradle in Bethlehem" are songs that are Christmas standards. The title was written by Vince's wife, Amy Grant.

The album starts with "Winter Wonderland," which Vince sings in traditional style. None of the songs have a country feel to them. They are all done in a pop standard style. My favorite carol is done here as well, "Silver Bells" to perfection. Many people attempt to sing the beautiful "O Holy Night." Vince totally does this one justice with his beautiful tenor.

Recorded in 1992, this album stands up and will be a favorite of mine for years to come. It's one I'll be playing in the background of our Christmas celebration this holiday.
