Vince Gill - Next Big Thing

Bottom line is that this is another terrific album by Vince. His fans will not be disappointed. Vince has a timeless voice that is very much suited to the ballads, but he shows his humorous and fun side on here as well.

Vince Gill has put out another incredible CD on the MCA label. His name can be found in the writing credits of each and every song. Some songs he co-wrote and others he wrote solo. The CD opens with the fun and up-beat lyrics of Vince's current single, "Next Big Thing" and closes with a beautiful love song. Most of the songs in between are more or less the classic Vince Gill ballads that we know and love. You can hear the voices of Emmylou Harris, Lee Ann Womack, Amy Grant and Jenny Gill singing harmony on some of the songs as well.

One of my favorite songs on the album is "Next Big Thing." I love up-beat and fun lyrics and this song is right up my alley. I think Vince's tongue is planted firmly in his cheek as he tells the artists of the "moment" to enjoy their fame. There is always someone waiting in the wings to be the "next big thing." I enjoyed the arrangement of this song immensely with all the horns that were added to the mix. It is just a fun song all the way around.

Emmylou Harris lends her distinctive voice to "Young Man's Town." This is a poignant song about coming to the realization that not everyone is willing to accept the experience of the older generation.
