Guide Review - Big and Rich - Comin' To Your City
"Comin' To Your City," the title track on Big and Rich's new release is just one of many hard drivin', rocking, in your face tunes. "Jalapeno" and "20 Margaritas" also fit the description but "Soul Shaker" is something special. It's about a man's promise to love a woman like he means it. Delivered with fiddles, banjos and a whole lot of country attitude, it will get your attention."Nevermind Me," a beautifully written, mellow song about how you should just ignore all the not so normal things a man does as he deals with losing the girl he loves. The song really showcases the duo's unique harmonizing abilities."Blow My Mind" and "I Pray For You" are two more easier goin songs and all three show a much softer side of Big and Rich.
A most pleasant surprise was the inclusion of two patriotic songs. "Our America," a very special version of the "Star Spangled Banner" and "8th of November." The latter begins with a very nice introduction by Kris Kristofferson. It's the story of Niles Harris, one of only four that survived a devastating attack by the Vietcong during the war. Niles is the man that gave Big Kenny his top-hat.
It's very hard to put a genre label on each song which is what I originally had planned for this review. The more I listened, the more difficult it became. It's a little of everything and I am gonna just enjoy it for what it is, music. Their message is loud and very clear, just love one another and be tolerant of others that are different from yourself.
