Guide Review - Shannon Brown - Corn Fed
Right out of the gates the title track, "Corn Fed," sets the tone for the album. She's proud of where she came from & you should never expect her to apologize for who she has become. Don't underestimate a woman because it can take a really "Big Man" to love a little bundle of dynamite. "High Horses" is about breaking all the musical roles & not being stuck on what is country & what isn't. "Good Ole Days" is a mix of disco with a little bit of groove.
A fun song is "I Love 'Em All," about a woman who will date any kind of man as long as they'll treat her right. She particularly enjoys the cowboys working the Wrangler butts. "Why" is a great song performed by Jason Aldean but Shannon really adds something extra to the lyrics. "Pearls," the disc's second single, isn't about a necklace, but rather the words of advice handed down from mother to daughter throughout the years. "Small Town Girl," written by Shannon, is almost autobiographical for her & it closes the album. I love the line: "Now I won't run from the past that's given me wings."
