Guide Review - Diamond Rio - Diamond Rio Greatest Hits 2
Diamond Rio loves to stir up our emotions and no one in today's country music genre does it as consistently or as successfully as this group of 6 multi-talented guys.I can't help but to feel as though I am being taken on a musical journey of one's life emotions with this CD. From our early childhood memories in "Sweet Summer" where the most important thing on our minds then was to round up enough coins to go chase down the ice cream truck on those hot afternoons to the uplifting attitude of dealing with those middle age "Wrinkles" and everything in between.
We savor sweet love in "Meet In The Middle," "Beautiful Mess," and "Unbelievable" and have our hearts ripped out all over again with "Over You" and the aching harmonies of "You're Gone." We also get a whimsical taste of love gone bad with the Roy Orbison sounding "Redneck Love Gone Bad."
Facing the loss of a loved one we're showed a way to obtain strength with the messages contained in "God Only Cries" and "I Believe." This leaves me with two songs not yet spoken of and I saved those for last. 2001's grammy nominated "One More Day," gave so many of us a way of escaping the horrors of September 11th. We could, even if for the few minutes of the song, imagine having back for just one day, the innocense we all lost on that fateful day and why that no matter how dark this ole world might be, there's still hope IF, "In God We Still Trust."
