Billy Gilman - Everything and More

Billy Gilman - Everything and More

The Bottom Line

Billy Gilman couldn't sing for over a year so that his voice could properly mature. Consider it time well spent. While "Everything And More" isn't completely a country album, neither were Billy's three previous albums. Country's just the easiest genre to "place" Billy In. Still, "Everything And More" is a good, oftentimes fun album that showcases a young man who will only get better with time.
Pros
  • "I'm Not Me Anymore"
  • "Coming Home"
  • "Awaken The Music"
Cons
  • I don't see a breakout hit on the record.

Description

  • Billy's first album since his voice has changed.
  • Produced by Sandy Linzer.
  • Released by Image Records.

Guide Review - Billy Gilman – Everything And More

Going through a voice change as a boy transitions into manhood can be tough. It's doubly tough when the boy going through the voice change was considered a child prodigy as a singer. Billy Gilman is that boy and after listening to his first single and title track to his newest album, "Everything And More," one thing is immediately clear: Billy still has a great voice and boy, does he ever use it on.

After the soaring ballad showcases Billy's one octave lower voice, Billy gets playful on the radio ready track "Hey Little Suzie (The Cause Of All That)" and "Three Words, Two Hearts, One Kiss." Billy does an incredible job with his cover of "Peaceable Kingdom" while also showcasing his newfound confidence in his new voice with inspirational songs like "Coming Home," "Is Anybody Out There" and "Pray For Him." "I'm Not Me Anymore" chronicles the tough stages we all go through in our life as we grow up (and go through things in life such as love and loss).

"Awaken The Music" tops the whole record off by taking it in a place I never expected. Quite simply, the song is done like a Broadway show tune. And does Billy ever do the song well. Primarily written by producer Sandy Linzer and Edward B. Kessell, "Everything And More" is a record of a young man in transition. While the album lacks a genre specific identity (there's a lot of country/pop, one traditional track, a boatload of Christian songs and the Broadway track), Billy's still a gifted vocalist.
