Guide Review - The Kentucky Headhunters - Flying Under the Radar
We get off to a fun start with "Louisiana CoCo." The deep voice of guitarist Richard Young gives it a very different sound and quickly catches you up into the potential of the album. It is really hard to pick favorite songs because they are all really good. A few that stick out for me are "Go To Heaven," "Midnight Special," "Everyday People" and "Ashes of Love." There is a version of the old Roger Miller tune, "Chug-A-Lug" covered here with a dance mix beat, and once again you can hear the deep voice of Richard adding a little 'rap' flavor to the song. It is definitely lively and makes you tap your toes.
Overall, this album is just a well rounded selection of great music. I don't think anyone who simply likes good music would be disappointed to find this in their collection. Richard Young, Fred Young, Greg Martin, Anthony Kenney and Doug Phelps are a powerhouse of talent when they come together to make music. Their sound is uniquely theirs and they do it well. Simply put, it is good music.
