Guide Review - Johnny Cash - The Johnny Cash Children's Album
This 15 song never before released on CD--four of which are bonus tracks not included on the 1975 classic, is one to have around forever. I have to tell you that I remember some of these songs growing up as a kid in a very country music listening home. I was raised hearing songs from The Man In Black, absolutely loving it, and I know my kids are going to love this one as well. What a life it had to be, being the son or daughter of this talented man. A kid himself as his son's liner notes say, had to be anything but boring. Also says his father would always rather have laughed than cried, and I believe it, since he stepped out of his Man in Black character to make an album such as this.
"Old Shep" has to be my very favorite, first and foremost that Elvis sang it and now second, Cash sings it. Original songs written by father and son, "Dinosaur Song" and "Little Green Fountain" make this album complete, showing the love of family by writing them together. "Nasty Dan" was taped on "Sesame Street" some time ago with Oscar the Grouch, I wish I could have see that, I missed it. But sit back, listen and picture him singing it to Oscar.... I'm there, are you?
