Guide Review - Darren Kozelsky - Let Your Mind Fly
Darren Kozelsky has a voice that is pleasing to the ears and his songwriting and song selection is great too. 'Let Your Mind Fly' is a solid debut album from a promising new artist who has what it takes to make it far in the music business."Cool Grass" is an easy song to listen to and a perfect start to the album. When life gets you down just let your mind wander "to the tops of the mountains, back down to the valley side." The first taste of Darren's songwriting ability is heard in "Messed Up In Love," a song about a man who'd rather go through the ups and downs of marriage than be alone. "Mind Over Matter" begins with a harmonica solo before going into lyrics about women who broke his heart after he fell for them.
"Other Side Of Morning" is a wonderfully written song by Mike McClure. "Fly me away safely from danger. Rock my soul gently in the arms of an angel" is the chorus. Merle Haggard's song, "Running Kind," is covered by Darren. An upbeat tune you could move along to is "Down Into Black." It's about a man who has looked for love only to have lost it once it was found. Just when you think you have love planned out it is turned upside down and things aren't according to plan as illustrated in "Love Lays Before You." My favorite song is the Darren-penned "Why Do I Dream?" and is a must-listen.
