Guide Review - Cowboy Troy - Loco Motive
Well, it was bound to happen given how popular the rap genre is with the youth audience. What I'm talking about is a rap artist who happens to also be a country artist. That man is Cowboy Troy. A member of the Muzik Mafia, Cowboy Troy first burst upon the scene in 2004 on Big & Rich's "Rollin' (The Ballad of Big & Rich)."After the first single "I Play Chicken With The Train" comes "Crick In My Neck" and it's a humorous song that was born out of being a big guy sleeping on a too small bed on the bus. "Ain't Broke Yet" is a song most people live every day. It's about living life paycheck to paycheck: "Ain't broke yet but I'm 'sho enough bendin'" Big and Rich sing during the chorus. If there were any breakout song on the CD it would be "If You Don't Wanna Love Me" which features a great chorus vocal from Sarah Buxton. It's about how a woman leaves her man she loves because he doesn't give her the love she needs. It's also rapped in a way that's not unlike those old recitation songs from days gone by.
"Somebody's Smilin' On Me" features Tim McGraw and Big Kenny (of Big and Rich) and it's another ballad that finds Troy to be very thankful. "Wrap Around The World" is a great track about making sure to love the world and the people within it. After one listen to Cowboy Troy's "Loco Motive," I instantly found it enjoyable but despite that fact I don't know if radio will take to it. That being said, radio doesn't always play what people consider great.
