Guide Review - Merle Haggard - Hag / Someday We'll Look Back
Since I was raised on this man's music, it has a real special place in my heart. It takes me back to my childhood when I use to listen to this while Mom was cleaning house, or I was just getting home from school, so naturally when I heard about this album coming out with two of his albums on one CD, I just had to have it. Merle Haggard is an amazing artist and has many hits that tells stories and to me that's what country music is all about."If You've Got The Time" is one of my favorites, I remember this song like it was yesterday on the radio and wish the stations today would continue to play songs like this classic. Merle has a talent in writing songs as well as singing them and he really knows how to get you into the song with the stories he tells. In the song "I've Done it All" basically tells the story of his life and the things he's done, listen and see how many you have done, compared to him.
I love to hear him sing songs from Bob Wills also, another one I grew up with and love to hear people do covers of, like "Spanish Two Step." Also songs by the awesome Roger Miller, Merle does his "Train of Life" and does a great job of it. Theres not a bad song on this CD, lots of great music, some blues also, that Merle does such a great job with.
