It had been close to 30 years since I had last visited the beautiful area of Lake Tahoe, on the California and Nevada border. The lake, with it's crystal cold, clear water, is a favorite vacation getaway for many people. Driving up with my friend Dianne, who did the driving, I emmersed myself in the gorgeous blue waters and green pine trees, as we traveled to Harvey's Resort and Casino, on the Nevada side (naturally) of the lake.
We checked in and went to pick up our tickets at Will Call, along with our Meet & Greets for Little Big Town. This would be our first time meeting the band, and we were excited to meet them. Unfortunately, we didn't get to meet Kimberly Roads, who went into labor on the 27th and had her first child, a girl, Daisy, in Phoenix. But, we're hoping to catch them on the CMT Tour later this year, so maybe we'll get to meet her then.
After our meet and greet, we made our way to our 10th row seats, and I took out my notebook to take notes on the show. Little Big Town came out on stage at 7:00 pm, and started the show with "Good as Gone," followed by "Bones."
Karen explained that they are a four member band, but Kimberly went into labor three weeks early in Phoenix, and this is the first time they've done a show without one of the members.
"A Little More You," "Bring It On Home," (their first Top 5 song) and the fun "Welcome to the Family" followed.
The group will put out their next album in November, and they performed a song that will be on that album, called "I'm With the Band." The final songs were "A Reason Not To Be Gone" "You Can Go Your Own Way," and of course "Boondocks." They sounded fantastic, but you could tell that the harmonies were missing something, especially in the end part of "Boondocks." They didn't want to cancel the remaining dates they have with Martina, which are only for an additional week, so they decided to perform with the three of them. I'm so glad that they did. Fabulous show, as always.
