Beautiful Star: The Christmas Collection is just that - beautiful. When it comes to Christmas albums, a lot of times an artist releases an album that won't stand the test of time. I can say that, for me, this is one I could enjoy for many years to come. It has just the right touch of traditional sound mixed in with Rhonda's bluegrass prowess.
"Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem" is a pretty song to begin with, but when you add Rhonda's shining voice to it you get nothing but perfection. The same can be said on "Silent Night" and "Away In A Manger." Sharon White Skaggs and Cheryl White sing background vocals on the lastly mentioned song.
"Twelve Days Of Christmas" made me laugh a little bit as each person in the thirteen member choir took their turn singing. It's a great way of ending the album because it lets listeners hear just how much fun they had making Beautiful Star: The Christmas Collection. I'm pretty tough on Christmas albums but I must admit that this is one I could listen to every year. It's not kitschy and I appreciate that fact.
