Bottom Line:

When you describing one of the world's most talented cowboys and one of country music's most promising stars, there are never enough good things to say. But for Trent Willmon, awesome sums it up. Trent is releasing his new CD Broken In with Compadre Records. You can hear it in his voice as soon as the first song starts, that Trent is refreshed. Be prepared to hear something new, as well as the great sound we have all enjoyed from the start of his career.

There are some amazing things on Trent Willmon's new album that you just don't get from the music coming out of Nashville these days. You get an album full of quality music that is worth listening to from start to finish. All of these tunes are about life and everything he went through to become the artist he is today. If you like to listen to stories about small town life & all of the great things that go along with it, then get this CD. Listening to this great new album will also give you a chance to hear Trent show off his songwriting abilities. With twelve songs total, you will go on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Some songs have a great country sound, while others are awesome ballads. There are also a couple tunes that have a rockin' edge that shows off his versatility as a singer and songwriter.

The title track "Broken In" is the first song on the album, & it's a great song to start off with. Singing about life, Trent brings into perspective one thing, don't judge anyone. When you look at someone who maybe rough around the edges, don't judge them, they're not broke, they're just "broken in."

"Dry County" is my personal favorite. It doesn't matter how small your hometown is, there are always good & bad things about living there. For many of us, if we lived in an "alcohol free" town, we would go insane, but Trent makes it look fun. He even describes all of the fun things you go through just to get a cold one. You can actually imagine a bunch of friends jumping into a truck & heading off to the next town for a twelve pack. This is a fun song you're sure to love.

Another great tune is "Doesn't Mean I Don't Love You." This takes you into the middle of a relationship. He describes that regardless if they fight or don't see eye to eye, he still loves her. Trent also describes how sometimes things are said that you regret later. This is something that everyone goes through in any relationship, but Trent's not afraid to say it out loud.

"The Good Days Are Gone" has a great sound that starts out like some of the more traditional tunes. The story is pretty simple, if you look back at all of the things you've done, it's amazing you're alive. Listening to it, it would have been a song that Merle, George, or Waylon would have loved to have recorded.

"The Truth" slows it down a little. Again, it goes back to the relationship point of view, but on this tune, they have actually split up. You can tell he's had his heart crushed a few times in his life. Trent tells a story about how they have split up and he's asking all of his friends, if they see her to tell her he's doing great. Unfortunately, he's not doing nearly as good as his friends are letting on. Finally at the end he admits just how bad things have been.

"There Is A God" is the perfect song to wrap this album up. Simply singing about all the things we take for granted, how can anyone question what's waiting on the other side. Trent asks one question, "what proof do you need?"

It doesn't matter if you have been a fan of Trent Willmon's from his first album or if your just looking for something different, no collection is complete without Broken In.
