From the Heart Bottom Line
Dolly Parton's voice is one of the most recognizable in all of country music. With her latest release, From The Heart, it is clear that her most famous hits are still just as popular today as they were the first time they were recorded. This record will take you on a journey through time and tell you stories about love and heartache, and show the world that Dolly Parton still believes that love can conquer anything.About Dolly
When fans think of country music, one of the first names that will come up is likely to be Dolly Parton. Her career has remained consistent ever since she first appeared on the Porter Wagoner Show in the 60s, as a replacement for Norma Jean. Dolly graced Porter's stage until she decided to pursue a solo career of her own. Once this happened, it seemed the possibilities were endless.Dolly remained in control of her career, and she even sat down and created a song that would eventually be the biggest hit of her career titled "I Will Always Love You." This was her way of saying goodbye to Porter and moving on to the next chapter of her amazing career.
By the time the 1980s rolled around, Dolly was starting to think about Hollywood and working in the movies. The first movie she accepted was none other than 9 to 5. This turned into a smash hit at the box office and Dolly even penned the theme song using the same title. Moving on to her next endeavor, Dolly teamed up with Burt Reynolds in the controversial musical, The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas. This too, became a fan favorite and led to more roles in other films such as Rhinestone, Steel Magnolias, Straight Talk, and even more recently, Hannah Montana: The Movie.
From the Heart - The Songs:
At first, I thought this was going to end up being just another release of Dolly's hit songs with love as the theme. That was actually not the case. They are all songs that Dolly holds close to her heart. Each one is about love, but some of them are about losing your special someone and having to move on.The first track is "But You Know I Love You." This was originally a huge hit for Kenny Rogers and The First Edition, but Dolly has recreated it and truly made it her own.
Speaking of Kenny Rogers, Dolly teamed up with him for a couple duets that ended up at the top of the charts and both of them can be heard on this record. "Islands In The Stream" and "Real Love" have always been personal favorites, so to see them included on this project was awesome.
"I Will Always Love You" is Dolly's "signature" song, and regardless how many times it is played, it gets better and better. One song that is included on this record that many country music fans adore of Dolly's is "Love Is Like A Butterfly." Although this is not a personal favorite by a long shot, it still was very appropriate for this record.
Bringing this album to a close is a tune that Dolly recorded with Porter Wagoner titled, "Please Don't Stop Loving Me." This is a phenomenal song that has continued to remain popular even after forty years.
From The Heart is an awesome album that is full of some of Dolly Parton's biggest hits and is perfect for Valentine's Day, or any other day you want to celebrate romance.
