Sugarland's sophomore album, Enjoy The Ride, was produced by Byron Gallimore. It contains a total of eleven tracks - all co-written by Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush with the aid of a few other writers (Bobby Pinson, Jeff Cohen and Tim Owens to name a few). "Stay" was written solely by Jennifer Nettles and former member Kristen Hall helped co-write the last track, "Sugarland."
Another upbeat track is "County Line," a song paying homage to that special place where you grew up feeling like you could do no wrong and where your troubles could be forgotten. It's where you experienced love, life, and good times with those closest to you.
"Want To" is the album's first single and is about a woman who wants to stay in the relationship but leaves the choice ultimately to the man. "We could keep things just the same, leave here the way we came with nothing to lose. But I don't want to if you don't want to." She knows he has plans of his own but would love to be a part of them.
"April Showers" is a song with beautiful lyrics and accompanying music. Jennifer Nettles' voice really shines on this one as she sings about how love can leave an open door and how she thinks the two of them were meant to be together. Another song where Jennifer's voice shines is "Stay." "Sugarland" is about a woman recounting memories made in the small Texas town when she was sixteen years old. She remembers the love she shared, clothes on the line and fields of bluebonnets. "Oh the sweet skies of Sugarland. Warm breeze blowing, long dirt roads" are some of the other things mentioned.
Enjoy The Ride is a great effort from the former trio - turned duo. It sounds like Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush are carrying on with their career without missing a beat, which is something I'm sure fans worried about. The future is still looking bright for Sugarland and I can't wait to see where the road ahead takes them.
