Bottom Line:

If you like fiddles, Bob Wills and Western Swing then prepare yourself for a rare treat. Red Steagall's new album, Here We Go Again will blow your mind and leave you begging for more. With super-star guests and legendary duet partners, it is impossible not to be entertained. Red Steagall has been recording for more than five decades, and by adding this album to your collection you will understand why.

Being a fan of the many types of "country" music, I have been exposed to almost everything. From Americana, Rockabilly, TexMex and the Bakersfield sound on to mainstream and the great country classics. One of my favorites is Western Swing. There have been some true miracle workers in the history of Western Swing like Bob Wills and Asleep At The Wheel. Keeping this great style of music alive for more that five decades and adding his own touch is none other than Red Steagall. One thing that Red is famous for is discovering Reba McEntire, but he has done so much more than that. Traveling around the world, Red and his band have introduced millions to Western Swing and cowboy songs. Red was not alone on this album though, he brought in close friends and legendary singers like Reba McEntire, Neal McCoy, Charley Pride, Larry Gatlin, Toby Keith, and Charlie Daniels. Even the CD cover has a "classic" feeling with Red in front of an old truck which is parked in front of a theater with all the special guests on the the marquee. From start to finish you are going to be entertained with non-stop "Western Swing" music. Listening to Here We Go Again once will not be enough, so go ahead and pick up a couple extra copies for the car, the house, and anyone else who may enjoy it. Bob Wills introduced the world to Western Swing, but Red Steagall brought it into the twenty first century.
Upon putting this album in the CD player you can almost see a stage in front of you with a full "Western Swing" band, including the two traditional fiddle players. With a CD full of thirteen songs, with seven of those songs duets, there is no way to pick and choose which could possibly be the best. Red Steagall with the help of superstar Toby Keith, started off this CD with "Lone Star Beer And Bob Wills Music." This duet can only be described as "legendary." Reba McEntire joins Red on the title track, and the end result is undeniable. Red paired up with Grand Ole Opry star Charley Pride on "Party Dolls And Wine" and fan favorite Neal McCoy on "Early Mornin' Kind Of Love." Now don't think that just the duets are great, because that's not so, Red is just as great on his own. "Three Chord Country Song" and "The Fiddle Man" give you chills with that classic sound. The last three tunes on this awesome record are all duets with legendary performers. Ray Benson joins Red on "Bob's Got a Swing Band In Heaven." This is a great tribute to the "King of Western Swing," Bob Wills. Larry Gatlin joins Red on "No Way No How," and legendary Charlie Daniels joins Red on the final song "Truck Drivin' Man." If you want to get in touch with your country roots and inner "western swing" soul, this is a must for your collection.
