One On One Bottom Line:

For those of you who fell in love with the group Alabama, you're in luck. Their lead singer, Randy Owen is back with an album full of great songs and energy like never before. One On One is what every fan will get as they are listening to each track. John Rich produced this entire record and even had a hand in writing a few of the songs. Although some of the music resembles Alabama's sound, Randy worked hard to create a style that is completely him.

About Randy Owen

For over thirty years, Randy Owen was the lead singer for the country group Alabama. As a band, they dominated the charts. Every year at the awards shows, these guys seemed to win everything they were nominated for. Practically every single they released headed straight to the top. Their music consisted of southern rock and country, which related to their audience.

After years on the road and countless awards, Alabama was inducted into the Country Music Hall Of Fame in 2005. Around the same time they announced their retirement and the fans were left with nothing more than the music to remember them by.

After entering the world of retirement, Randy discovered he still had more music to share with his fans. He slowly started touring a little and making some appearances at the world famous Grand Ole Opry, but in the end that was not enough. Once someone like Randy has been on the road for as many years as he has been, getting it out of your system is impossible. So, the only thing to do was team up with John Rich, who is one of country music's hottest producers, in order to make an album that the fans would love.

It may be hard for fans to except that Alabama is a part of the past, but thankfully Randy Owen is still a part of the future. He looks refreshed and his voice sounds better than ever. Hopefully, he will go ahead and pursue a solo career and not just limit himself to one album. Once you have heard this record from start to finish, I think you will agree that this is one of the best projects that Randy Owen has been a part of.

One On One - The Songs:

"I Confess" starts this record of perfectly. It is about a man who is trying to win the heart of a new girl and will go to all extremes to make it happen. This is a song that only Randy Owen could have pulled off.

"Braid My Hair" was the first single off of this amazing album. St. Jude and "Country Cares" has always been a huge part of Randy's world and to hear this song was awesome. There are so many kids out there that are suffering from illnesses that may eventually cost them their life. No one realizes how many people out there trying to help them and keep their spirits high and it is truly touching to see how positive most of these kids are. That is what this song is about. A child is going through treatment and is asked what she would like to do when she grows up. After she lists a bunch of things that she wants to do, she says "most of all, I'm gonna braid my hair." Hearing something like that from a child has got to be one of the hardest things in the world to comprehend.

The title track is a perfect love song. It is about a man who wants to spend some alone time with his better half. If you are planning an anniversary, this is a perfect song to have playing in the background while enjoying some alone time.

Randy teamed up with John Rich and Vicky McGehee and wrote "No One Can Love You Anymore." The character is expressing to his other half how much he loves her. He finally comes right out and tells her there is no one out there who can love her like he does. This is one of the best tunes on the record.

Perhaps no one realized how much country music needed Randy Owen until now. One On One is absolute dynamite.
