The biggest thing that separates country music from any other genre is the simple fact that the songwriters are just as important as the singers. Many times they are just as good as the singers. Phil Vassar has proven this time and time again. His latest album is Prayer Of A Common Man. He has always remained true to his roots and now he is singing about them. This is one of the greatest Phil Vassar albums to date.
This CD was originally set for release for October, 2007, but for some reason is was pushed back to a Spring release. At first fans were disappointed, but trust me, this album is worth the wait. Once you have it in the CD player, you are going to see why fans all over, love Phil Vassar.
There is no denying that Phil loves to have fun, but he also knows how to be serious. This album is full of great songs, and will have you moving from the start.
The first song off this album is a rockin' tune that proves this album is full of the musical style that fans have fallen in love with. "This Is My Life" is about how easy it is to get caught in the "web" of success, and watching what people will do to get ahead. By the end of the song, Phil is letting the world know that it's his life and his choice to live it as he wants.
"My Chevrolet" is a catchy little tune about life and how much your first car means to you. This record is so good, it's hard to pick a favorite, but this song is at the top the list.
"Let Me Love You Tonight" slows it down. This is a song about a relationship coming to an end. Although the relationship may be over, there is one last request. He asks to spend one last night, so they can remember the good times they've shared throughout their time as a couple. Once you hear this song, it's clear this song was meant for Phil Vassar.
"The World Is A Mess" pretty much explains itself. However, instead of complaining about it, Phil decides to forget his troubles by surrounding himself with his better half's presence.
It doesn't matter whether you've been a fan of Phil Vassar's since the release of his first solo album or you've never heard of him before, Prayer Of A Common Man is worth adding to your collection.
