About Rascal Flatts:
It was July 29th of 2000 when the very first single from Rascal Flatts "Prayin' For Daylight" would peak at number 3 on the Billboard country chart. Since then it's been nothing but nonstop hits and touring for one of today's country super groups.
More Accolades!
To date they've sold over 17 million records and have had 9 number 1 singles. And it's that musical magic that Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney have brought to every one of their 5 multi-platinum studio albums. In 2006, they outsold every act in every musical genre. In the year ending of fall 2008, Rascal Flatts headlined 72 shows, 47 of which sold out and 10 that set new concert attendance records. Their sixth consecutive win at the 2008 ACM Awards ties them with another country super group - Alabama. As a celebration of all their musical success, Lyric Street Records has released Greatest Hits Volume 1. It's 13 of Rascal Flatts most loved songs, 7 of which reached number 1.
Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 - The Songs:
The CD starts off with their first single "Prayin' For Daylight.""I'm Movin' On" is one of those classic country songs that you never get tired of hearing. It's about finding your place in life. Where you've been, where you are and where you need to go.
"These Days" is a song for everyone whose heart still hurts and longs for that old love to come back again because only one of you has moved on.
"I Melt" is one of those passion filled songs for lovers that really helps to set the mood.
Also included are "Feels Like Today," "Bless The Broken Road" and "Skin (Sarabeth)," a really powerful and emotional song about childhood cancer. It was also a hidden track found at the very end of the Feels Like Today CD. You had to wait for about 20 seconds after the last track "Oklahoma-Texas Line" to hear it.
A few other songs worth mentioning are "Fast Cars And Freedom," "What Hurts The Most," "My Wish" and "Life Is A Highway" from the soundtrack to the movie Cars. It was originally recorded in 1991 by Tom Cochrane.
The initial Limited edition release of Greatest Hits Volume 1 will also contain a bonus CD of three Christmas songs. The songs on this mini Christmas release are "White Christmas," "Jingle Bell Rock" and "I'll Be Home For Christmas." Hopefully we can look forward to a full Christmas CD from these guys in the future.
And for as many hits that were chosen for this collection, there were still a few that were over looked. Songs like "This Everyday Love," "Love You Out Loud" and "What Hurts The Most" were not included. This is unfortunate as there was room for these songs on the CD.
Overall Rascal Flatts' Greatest Hits Volume 1 is a really solid retrospective of one of today's most beloved country acts. A great CD that every Rascal Flatts fan should have in their collection.
