Time Flies Bottom Line:

John Michael Montgomery has been a permanent fixture in country music for the better part of two decades. He has had multiple No. 1 hits and throughout the course of his career, countless top ten hits. There is no way to describe the impact that he has had on the fans, as well as country music. Now he is back, once again, on his own brand new label and a new album being released. Time Flies is an album full of great country songs that are full of meaning.

About John Michael Montgomery:

County music lovers learned about John Michael Montgomery when he entered the music scene back in the early 1990's. He bounced onto the charts with a tune called "Life's A Dance." Once he had become a house hold name with this smash single, he released numerous other hits including "I Swear," "I Can Love You Like That," "Be My Baby Tonight," "Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)," "The Little Girl," "I Love The Way You Love Me," and countless others.

Throughout the years, John Michael Montgomery has been involved in numerous charities and has always enjoyed helping different causes in his native Kentucky. Fans have flocked to his concerts and different appearances to show their support of his music. Although in the past few years, there have been some major struggles that John Michael has faced, he always comes out with a positive attitude and a bright outlook on the future.

One of the first major issues he was faced with was when Atlantic Records closed their doors to their country music branch. He was absorbed by Warner Nashville, but eventually left them.

After dealing with the politics that come with recording for a major label, John Michael Montgomery decided it was time for him to do what so many other artist are doing and that is to open his own label. By starting Stringtown Records, he was able to record the kind of music he wanted to record, as well as throw the politics out the window. With that said, now it is time to sit back and find out all of the new and exciting things that can be expected with this new record.

Time Flies - The Songs:

It was so good to hear the first track "What Did I Do." The sound is classic John Michael Montgomery, and so is the content. Sometimes artists never change their style and they end up getting lost in the mix of the new artists. Hearing this proves, that is not the case with John. This tune is about a man who has not always chosen the correct path in life, yet he still managed to find a good women. After mentioning all of the crazy things he has screwed up in life, he flat out asks, "What did I do to deserve this?"

Slowing things down, "Let's Get Lost" proves that John Michael has only gotten better with age. This is a great love song. Sometimes people get wrapped up in the day to day life and forget the important things. In this song, the main character takes his better half out to do things, simply to get away just for a little bit.

Over the years, fans have come to expect at least one tune that will make you laugh. On this album, that song is "With My Shirt On." At first, I thought it was going to be just a regular country tune, but once it got to the chorus, I was rolling. Over the years, everyone changes in appearance. For the most part, it seems weight is the one thing we all put on. That's exactly what John is talking about. In this tune, he is asking his wife if he can leave his shirt on while they do what love birds do. It is very funny.

"Mad Cowboy Disease" is good, and is perfect for any honky tonk. Bringing the record to a close is "Brothers 'Til The End." This is a great story about John and his brother, Eddie Montgomery (of Montgomery Gentry). It explains all of the things they have went through in life together.

Time Flies when your having fun, and this record proves it.
