Bonnie Nichols - I've Got Something To Say

Bonnie Nichols
Bottom Line:

Bonnie Nichols is one of those country performers who writes about the life that she has lived. And she shares that life, both good and bad, in the lyrics of her songs. From religion to relationships to kids to death, she covers it all in her latest release. It's a more traditional sounding CD that is all about God, family and country. This is what country music is all about.

Who is Bonnie Nichols?

Bonnie Nichols has been writing music since the 1980's. She began her songwriting career by being included in two Grammy-finalist children's projects out of Nashville. They were: "A Child's Gift Of Lullabies" and "Snuggle Up: A Gift of Songs for Sweet Dreams." She also won the first Alaska Public Radio Song of the Year contest in 1997 for her song, "She Don't Hear the Thunder" describing a woman who found her way through a relationship filled with domestic violence. She is also the recipient of a Wolf Trap Silver Medallion Award for a children's project, "Hunk-Ta-Bunk-Ta-Bed." Bonnie has also been honored by the State of Alaska as a First Lady's Volunteer of the Year. She lives in Soldotna, Alaska which is on the Kenai Peninsula. It is 150 miles South West of Anchorage. When Bonnie's not writing and performing, she works as a hospital marketing and public relations director.

About the CD

The first thing you notice when Listening to Bonnie Nichols sing is the warmth and sincerity in her lyrics and vocals. And this probably comes from the fact that she writes nearly all of her own songs. So, they come from a place of personal experiences that have happened in her life. The CD starts off with a love song that Bonnie wrote for our troops called "Red, White and Blue." Another personal favorite is the song "Turn The Quiet Up." the song is about finding time at the end of the day to reconnect with the one you love and shutting the outside world off for a while. Another beautiful song is simply entitled "Grace." It's a song that talks about trying to find the grace in our every day lives. She talks about a woman fighting cancer as well as a little baby that was rescued after the 2004 tsunami disaster in Asia. "New Beginning" is an emotionally touching song that she wrote after she lost her husband to a sudden heart attack. She wrote the song to honor his memory, and to describe the experience she had with organ and tissue donation. The songs on this CD are a reflection of the life that Bonnie has experienced, both good and bad. She has something to say, and I really hope that people will stop and listen.
