The Bottom Line

If you are a fan of bluegrass and acoustic music you need to buy this album. Alecia is simply amazing and I don't see why she couldn't have as bright a career as Rhonda Vincent or any other leading bluegrass ladies. With an amazing collection of twelve tracks and guest background vocals by Cia Cherryholmes and Alison Krauss, you can't go wrong.

  • "Meet Me In Heaven Someday"
  • "Breakin' New Ground"
Cons
  • None.

Guide Review - Alecia Nugent - A Little Girl... A Big Four-Lane

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised when I first listened to "A Little Girl... A Big Four-Lane." Alecia's self-titled debut was so great I was afraid she wouldn't be able to keep the pace - but she has. She's also managed to surpass that first album and really grow as an artist.

"Too Good To Be True" wonderfully leads into Alecia's sophomore release. A young woman runs off with a man who promises everything she'd ever dream about and at first she believes him. She wants out of her small town but she does eventually come to realize that the man's promises will never happen. The musical intro to "God Knows What" is beautiful with the dobro being showcased prominently. The song is about a woman wants to explore the world on her own and a mother who has to let her go and keep her in her prayers. Simply beautiful is how I would describe "A Dozen White Roses" and "I Called All The Way To Kentucky" has a wonderful bluegrass sound.

Bradley Walker sings with Alecia on "When It Comes Down To Us (It's All Up To You)." Alecia's spunky side is clear in the song, "Breakin' New Ground." If her ex-flame is moving on with another woman then maybe she should act the same way with another man. "I won't let your memory get me down," she sings. "The only thing you left when you left me was no choice." Alecia's voice is spectacular and the beginning alone of the last song, "Meet Me In Heaven Some Day," could give a listener chills.
