Guide Review - Various Artists - Brewed in Texas 2
With an eclectic mixture of Texas artists and twenty of their finest drinking songs, you can't help but enjoy 'Brewed In Texas 2.' The album features the likes of Randy Rogers Band, Charlie Robison, Rick Trevino, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Honeybrowne, and so many more with songs like "Barlight," "Crossroads," "Scorpio Tequila," and "The Lord Loves The Drinkin' Man."A previously unreleased version of "She's Actin' Single (I'm Drinkin' Doubles)" is the first song on the album and Randy Rogers' voice is full of heartache as he sings about trying to hide his pain. Charlie Robison's song, "Barlight," gets things going before Jason Boland & The Stragglers perform the aptly titled "The Drinkin' Song." It's good to hear Rick Trevino on the traditional sounding "Another Six Pack Under" because I've missed hearing his voice.
Gary P. Nunn sings about "Corona Con Lima" and then Honeybrowne tells a story about a man that admires "Julie At The Bar" and how he wants her to notice him. Billy Joe Shaver sings to his "old friend" the barroom in "Drinkin' Back." He's been drinking to hide the hurt he feels in his heart. "How am I supposed to entertain you? My fingertips are worthless when my mind is so far away" proclaims the Old 97s in "Niteclub." The only lady featured is Trish Murphy singing her song, "Scorpio Tequila." MuzikMafia member Chance definitely has the most different sounding track as he raps and sings his way through his unreleased song, "I Came To Drink."
