Guide Review - Jay Teter - JayTeter.com
When Jay saw an advertisement about auditions for Opryland, he called and found out that they were having tryouts in Michigan the very next day. Being in college at the time, he skipped class, grabbed his guitar and jumped in his truck. He of course made the cut and started his career in country music doing stage shows from San Antonio to Pigeon Forge. I thought this was impressive: Jay's background includes a stint as a rodeo bull rider in college.Teter is actually on his fourth album (first three are independent albums.) His first single, "Cowboy Ride" is great and gets your toes a tappin,' he also has a video out with this one. The first cut is "Darker Places" which he says is a statement of faith. A tradition he wants to keep by always having a gospel song on his albums. Jay shows his diversity by cutting loose on the country rocker "Rough Cut," and then he turns solid country on a couple ballads "I Did In Dallas" and "I Don't Want To Kiss You Goodnight."
Jay also shows he can co-write with; "Until You Find Your Mr. Right," "Football, Beer & You," which is one of my favorites, along with the funny lines you've probably all heard in the "Pick-Up Song." I had the privilege to meet Jay in Nashville when I was there for the CMA Festival (Fan Fair) and his booth was pretty busy. You won't be disappointed if you add this one to your country collection. And I'll just bet we will be hearing more and more of this talented artist real soon. He's a great addition to country music.
