Guide Review - Eli Young Band - Level
The Eli Young Band has a really great album that has a honky tonk sound with a little bit of rock and roll thrown in and that's the kind of music I really like. All twelve songs were written by the band and you can tell they know what kind of material they sing best as there isn't one song that I can say is bad.I like the mentality the guy has in "Small Town Kid." He tells his mom not to worry about a few hundred thousand miles changing the way he lives and who he is because he will always the kind of person who likes the simple life and isn't impressed by big wigs in suits and ties. "When It Rains" the man fits right in to the sadness that type of weather brings because he cries right along with the sky. "That's The Way" things are when fate steps in and deals out heartaches and happiness according to one of the songs.
"Oklahoma Girl" is abougt a Texas boy who fell in love with a lady who lit his cigarette without him having to ask. "She took me where I'd never been before" he sings. After a relationship ends often times the boyfriend/girlfriend thinks that every one walking or driving by is the ex; such is the case in "Everything Is You." The album's last song, "Bottom Line," is one that closes things with a uptempo beat and lyrics about a man leaving his hometown once his eighteenth birthday rolled around.
