Guide Review - Bobby Pinson - Man Like Me
There's something about country music that drew me in as a teenager. I think it was albums like Bobby Pinson's "Man Like Me." From the instant I heard Bobby's debut single "Don't Ask Me How I Know," I knew I'd want to hear his CD but never expected the CD to be as great as this. If you don't know who bobby is, you might recogonize his name as a songwriter on various tracks on albums by Blake Shelton, Tracy Lawrence, Emerson Drive, Blue County, LeAnn Rimes and Trent Willmon. With a gritty voice that reminds me somewhat of songwriter/artists Marcel and Neal Coty, Bobby's CD leads off with "I'm Fine Either Way" and "Nothing Happens In This Town." Both tracks chronicle different aspects of life, how we grow up and how small towns have more going on than first meets the eye.
First single "Don't Ask Me How I Know" is a semi-autobiographical track about all the stuff one's done in life while "Man Like Me" finds Bobby singing about how he learned to be a man, It reminds me of something Travis Tritt might do. As good as all those tracks are my personal favorite on the record is a sure-fire big hit should it get released. "Shadows of the Heartland" is the kind of career defining song that most artists would kill to have. It discusses the way of life where Bobby was raised, the Heartland of America.
"Man Like Me" is an awesome CD packed with incredible songs, even his rendition of the hymn "Jesus Loves Me" (which is a hidden track on the CD).
