Guide Review - The Notorious Cherry Bombs - The Notorious Cherry Bombs
Music from what Nashville is now calling the coolest band in town. Rodney Crowell, Vince Gill, Richard Bennett, Tony Brown, Hank DeVito, Eddie Bayers, Jr., Michael Rhodes and Joh Hobbs. The Notorious Cherry Bombs started way back in the 70's and are just now releasing their first album. After going their separate ways, the band reunited at the 2003 ASCAP Country Awards Dinner to honor Crowell. It was said that they hit the stage and it was clear they weren't as good as they used to be. They were even better.Vince and Rodney provide most of the songs for this album, they co-wrote three of them. "Dangerous Curves" is one, and the fun-hearted "It's Hard to Kiss the Lips at Night That Chew Your Ass Out All Day Long." Which Vince Gill sang at the Ryman while I was in Nashville for the CMA Festival. It was a hit that night, as I know it will be on this album. But my favorite is "Let it Roll, Let it Ride."
This album is a must have for any Vince Gill or Rodney Crowell fan out there. The Notorious Cherry Bombs are a great group of guys that love to make music and have a whole lot of fun doing so. Oh and don't forget to watch out for the video of "It's Hard to Kiss the Lips at Night." Vince and Rodney both dress in drag and play each other's wives. It's a great video. They will also play Nashville's Ryman on September 10th, celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the historic venue's restoration. Wish I could be there.
