Guide Review - Lisa O'Kane - Peace of Mind
The path to stardom or success comes in many forms. For Lisa OKane that path has lead to unparalleled success in Europe. With her European success firmly entrenched, the down-to-earth singer/songwriter is hoping that more of America will notice her talents. Lisas second CD, Peace Of Mind should do the trick. With a melody similar to the classic Ricky Nelson song Travelin Man, No Tomorrow is a wonderful intro track. Lisas voice has a rich quality to it that is similar to Irene Kelley and Kathy Mattea. The classic Fred Rose song Foggy River is next and is a tastefully done update. Settle Down has a jovial, traditional country sound to it that is so infectious that youll wanna grab a dancin partner and go cut a rug to it. Peace Of Mind is the kind of lyrical gem that any country artist would fight to have. Its also one of the four songs Lisa Co-wrote for this CD. The elegant A Room Up For Rent is backed by a sparse acoustic guitar and cello. The song, a reflection on lost love, showcases Lisas emotive voice. Softer Place To Fall has a nice melody and strong vocals to accompany lyrics about how we should react to life.
Everyone Says Goodbye helps round out a pleasant sophomore release for Lisa OKane. Strong lyrics, vocals, melodies and production make Peace Of Mind a CD a treat to hear. Fans of traditional country with a touch of folk styled songs should check it out.
