Guide Review - Dean Miller - Platinum
When I first listened to the 'Platinum' I was wondering if Dean would follow in the footsteps of his famous father, Roger, but I was pleased to find out that Dean has his own songwriting & musical style. 'Platinum' is a solid album that will hopefully have a chance at radio. He'd get many fans if given a decent chance at airplay. It's tough letting go of someone who hurt you, especially if they had a "Hard Love" to live down. "I dream us back together, 'til my senses come around" sings Dean. He knows what will happen if they get back together, yet he misses the good times too. "105" is about driving fast & leaving trouble behind with every mile. One of my favorites on the album is "Whiskey Wings," a song about a man who tries to find some comfort in the bottle.
The upbeat "I've Been A Long Time Leaving" reminds me of Dean's father, Roger, especially in during faster lines. He might have taken his sweet time leaving a woman, but at least now he knows he will stay gone. At first I thought "Coming Back To You" was a re-make of Keith Urban's "You're Not My God" (because of the similarity in the sound/lyrics) but after a few lines I realized it was a different song. "She's the one & only thing I want to come back to. She's gone so I keep coming back to you" Dean sings about drinking something 80 proof. "Yes Man" is a good rockin' honky-tonk song & "Music Executive" is about an executive who doesn't have opinions on any music until he "gets them" from others.
