Guide Review - Randy Rogers Band - Live at Billy Bob's

This is a great live album, but I didn't detect much difference between a regular recorded album & something taken from a live concert. There were bits of the crowd heard during songs, in parts where Randy asked them to sing along, or in song intros. Other than that, I thought they weren't "rowdy" enough.

"Somebody Take Me Home" Randy sings in the first song. He doesn't want to be out wandering the streets all alone when he never wanted to leave home in the first place. One of the band's most popular songs, "Down And Out," is about a man who admits how he wasted a few years unsuccessfully looking for something more in his life, only to wind up a dreamer. Another popular song from the group is "Can't Slow Down." "It's wrong, it's right, it's gonna be another long night. To see the lights of the next town & I can't slow down" goes part of the chorus. The man is going to let the whiskey burn a hole right through him because it helps him move along.

Randy wrote "Again" with friend Cody Canada (of Cross Canadian Ragweed) & after hearing CCR's version so often on the radio it is great to finally hear Randy's. On the slower side of the musical spectrum we have "I Never Meant To Break Your Heart," wherein love is compared to a card game. You never see the all of the cards until the game is over. "Tonight's Not The Night (For Goodbye)" is a crowd favorite, as is "They Call It The Hill Country." "An Empty Glass (That's The Way The Day Ends)" closes out the album.
